In 2023, we were asked to build this stunning carriage house and workshop for a client. They chose one of our ‘off the shelf’ designs and added a couple of bespoke elements to personalise it for their particular needs.
As the ground in their location is London Clay, which is notorious for its shrinkage potential, the Local Authority Building Inspector required a concrete raft foundation complete with 2 layers of steel reinforcement mesh to ensure that the building would be standing strong for decades to come. About 1 week after the slab was finished, Passmores experienced site team delivered and erected the kit in under 2 days.
The carriage barn garage is split into two sections; the car port and the storage area which has been converted into a fully functional workshop. The car port has been fitted with 3 phase electrics, so the client’s car can be charged. A clock tower has been added to compliment the building's finish and character.
The results
The client was extremely happy with the final results, stating that they were “impressed by the level of care and attention put into every aspect of the Passmores build - from the designing of the garage to the building of it”. The professional finish of the garage has even drawn attention from passers by, who occasionally stop to compliment our client on how good his building looks. We definitely agree that it is a great looking building!
