Pre-pandemic, the majority of our timber garage orders were simply that; as a classic timber garage, for housing vehicles, maybe with some workshop space and additional storage. Now, many of our customers are looking for an extra dimension; maybe a home office, a garden studio or a gym to complement their timber garage and free up space in the house.

We are also facing a time of materials shortages and rising costs, as the global economy emerges from the pandemic and there is a huge surge in housebuilding, home improvements and infrastructure projects. This is not just affecting manufacturers of timber garages. Supply chain issues are being seen right across the construction industry, with shortages of timber, concrete, roof tiles, steel and ironmongery.

Passmores is well placed to cope with these shortages, thanks to judicious buying of raw materials and long term arrangements with our main supplier of sustainable Scandinavian timber.

To combat against social distancing measures, we have also placed more emphasis on our preb garage kits. So, rather than send our team to customers homes, we can provide most of our buildings in a kit so they can construct it themselves, or hire their local trusted builder.

The “new normal” and how it has changed our customers’ timber garage orders

Our lives are very different now than they were before lockdowns became the norm. Many of us have returned to our normal workplace but nearly of a quarter of the UK workforce are now based at home for at least some of the week.

We have learned to work, live and socialise differently. With the increase in home working, we are having to scrutinise how our domestic space functions and adapt and improve it to suit this new way of life.

One way to address this is to build in additional space with a Passmore timber garage or carriage house. They look great, add value to your property and provide space for a multitude of purposes.

Timber Garage or Carriage House?

For those that want functionality and good looks, you need go no further than our range of single and double timber garages, available with boarded and felted or tiled roofed options. The come in a wide range of sizes and with plenty of variations to style to satisfy most customers’ wants and needs.

For a more traditional feel, our range of carriage houses combines the functionality of the timber garage with the timeless appeal of oak. These buildings are in high demand, with many post-pandemic orders adding more value with an additional oak-fronted entrance bay or an attached garage, workshop or log store.

We offer installation and tiling services to the majority of our timber garage customers, with the customer arranging for a local contractor to lay the concrete foundation, fit electrics and landscape.

Alternatively, you can save money by ordering one of our pre-fabricated DIY timber garage kits. We provide a comprehensive kit of parts down to the last nut and bolt and easy to follow erecting instructions to help you or your chosen contractor. These timber garage kits are delivered across the UK and are proving highly popular.

As you will see from elsewhere on our website, the timber we use in our garages is sustainably sourced from timber mills in northern Sweden under the FSC Chain of Custody scheme. Passmore timber garages are eco-friendly and make a beautiful addition to your property.

We are all coming out of the pandemic together and some factors are still beyond our control. Whilst we always endeavour to provide a speedy and professional service, our lead times are longer than usual, for which we apologise. Our customers always agree – the wait is definitely worth it.
