The design brief was for a bright, airy Garden Centre retail sales area, having circa. 300mē of open space free of internal walls and with a traditional Kent barn like external appearance.
Passmores' solution involved the provision of a 'U' shaped timber building 19.20m x 16.20m, based on our cricket pavilion specification.
Glulam columns and beams were incorporated on the inside elevations and the central courtyard was covered with a glass atrium.
The building was constructed to comply with the latest Part L (thermal insulation) regulations.
The Glulam beams and their connections were left exposed as a feature.
Retail display space was maximized with the elimination of windows on three of the external walls.
